This map shows when and where each specimen of Archaeopteryx was found, from the feather discovered in 1860 to the most recent fossil skeleton found in 1992. All of the Archaeopteryx fossils have been unearthed in the Solnhofen limestone quarries, which spread across a 516-square-mile area near Solnhofen, Germany.Map by Peter Wellnhofer
