FLYING DONOSAURS?
Sunday, October 5, 10 - 11 a.m.Come to The Field Museum for a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see Archaeopteryx, the small feathered dinosaur that links dinosaurs to modern day birds. This fossil has never been on public display, so learn some dinosaur basics while you discover how this dinosaur could fly. Make your own Archaeopteryx and take flight! Cost is $14 ($12 members) for 1 adult and 1 child. Adults and children ages 3 & 4
FAMILY EVENING
BEHIND-THE-SCENES WITH THE DIVISION OF BIRDS
Friday, October 10, 6 - 8 p.m.Enjoy a special evening tour to celebrate the visit of Archaeopteryx, the remarkable fossil that links modern day birds to dinosaurs. Field Museum bird expert Dave Willard, Ph.D., will lead a tour through the third largest collection of bird specimens in the United States and talk about his work as a research scientist. View tiny hummingbird eggs and compare them to ostrich eggs which are the largest in the world. Cost is $10 per participant ($8 per member participant). Adults and children grades 3 and up
ADULT COURSE
BIRDING BASICS
Wednesday, October 15, 6 - 8 p.m.Discover the beauty of birdwatching by learning the basics of being a "birder." Begin by exploring the earliest relative of birds - dinosaurs. Take this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see Archaeopteryx, a fossil of a feathered dinosaur believed to be the link between dinosaurs and birds. After seeing the oldest known bird, learn some current-day birdwatching techniques. Learn how to use a field guide as well as how to use and care for binoculars. See birds commonly seen in the Chicago area, and learn about features and characteristics used for identification. Cost is $18 ($15 members).

Archaeopteryx: The Bird That Rocked the World will be on display in The Field Museum's South Gallery. The exhibit is free with general admission; $7 for adults, $4 for children (3-17), seniors and students with an ID. The Field Museum is located on Roosevelt Road at Lake Shore Drive. Low cost parking is available. The Museum is serviced daily by the CTA buses #146, #6, and #12.
