Caring For Your New BirdNetPets®

ABOUT THIS BOOK

I wrote this document originally to give to the people who bought my baby cockatiels. It grew quickly from a 2 page leaflet to a 23 page "book", complete with listings of local pet stores, mail order supply catalogs, vets and bird clubs. My motivation for writing it was to provide the new owners with as much information as possible, so that the babies I'd worked so hard to raise would have good care forever.

I've seen a lot of birds who were passed from home to home, neglected, not cared for properly or otherwise unintentionally abused by owners who just didn't know how to care for them correctly. In writing this information down, packaging it in a binder, and sharing it with everyone to whom I sold a bird, I hoped to prevent my babies from becoming "pass around" birds. In translating this book to a Web page, it has the potential to reach many more bird owners than I could hope to with my little booklet. I hope it will help keep many other birds from becoming "pass-around" birds.
