NEW FEATHERS

You will find spiky, white feathers on other parts of your bird from time to time. Don't panic-these are just smaller blood feathers growing in to replace lost feathers. The white sheath will dry up and flake off when the feather is done growing in. Try not to pet these growing feathers roughly, as they are sensitive, and you could cause your bird discomfort. Gentle scratching in the direction the feather is growing may help the sheath to come off.
