Brings Nature Into Your Lives

From the dawn of civilization, birds have been deeply involved in our lives.

How could birds not be involved with the development of mankind when they have been constantly part of our surroundings? That birds have had a role in religious worship, art, decoration, ceremonies, symbols, sports, hunting, engineering and history is not surprising. No other wild animals have made their presence more obvious, both physically and vocally.

A myriad of reasons exist as to why people like pets so much. But beyond obvious explanations are there deeper reasons?

Perhaps, we feel comfortable and relaxed with pets because of some innate or hereditary factor. Our forefathers spent their lives involved with animals. Tending livestock and working with animals is ingrained into our lives. Not even a hundred years ago, most of our relatives were still in agriculture. Today many people relax when walking their dog, petting their cat, working in their gardens, or with plants in their homes. Being city people now does not mean that our heritage of agriculture has left us. In fact, our background obviously shows itself as you watch the multitudes of city people enjoying their animals and plants.

Evidently, we still have cravings for those things in nature that were so vital for millions of years. Pets may be satisfying this inner need.
