Above is a growth chart for the chick that was followed in this article. You will notice that there is a relatively smooth curve in the weight gain pattern. Even with the number of days that the crop was empty or only had some food in it (when the chick was weighed), the chick was making good progress. A chick's growth needs to be judged on it's own. Each will have it's own pattern, but there should be a smooth growth curve seen.
