The Poodle is a breed of smart, friendly house dogs. The Poodle was once used as a hunter and retriever, but is no longer classed as a field dog. The poodle is believed to have originated in Germany.. Today, it is found throughout Europe and North America. The best known poodle has a thick coat of white, curly hair. Other poodles are black, while some are reddish. The hair may be short and curled tightly, covering the face as well as the body, or it may hang in ropelike cords. Persons often clip the hair into the classic poodle pattern, as shown in the illustration.Poodles range in size from fifty pounds to under ten pounds.
