Early Obedience Training:

Obedience training helps build the master puppy relationship, therefore the earlier you start the process the better it is for everyone. Puppies as young as 7 weeks are able to respond to simple commands such as "SIT", "DOWN", "COME", "LET'S GO" and "STAND". Simply placing the puppy in the proper position as you are speaking the command, is sufficient for teaching the young pup what these words mean.

Some puppies experience "TEMPER TANTRUMS" while this learning experience is going on. It may be in the form of nipping, biting, growling or showing teeth. This is their way of saying "I don't understand what you want from me" or "I don't want to do it your way". Deal with this situation as it happens. Correct with a growly "NO" then ignore the pup. This tells him he is not going to get his own way. Proceed with the exercise after a few moments and the pup is settled.

Your puppy's brain is a bit like a sponge in the early stages. There are plenty of instinctive behaviors already in there but the working and living with human being skills have to be taught. Fill their young mind with positive behaviors instead of letting them learn all the wrong things on their own.
